A Proxy Mate · Louisville, KY · Serving KY · IN · OH
I'm that guy. And if I'm not — I probably know the guy who is.
My time. Your call.
Life's busy. Some things just take time — and all the technology in the world doesn't replace the hours you have to put in to actually get something done. Billing disputes. Insurance headaches. The contractor who won't call back. The couch that never showed up. That's where I come in.
Who I Am
My name is Steve Hallam. I've spent years in commercial credit and collections — which means I know how to navigate bureaucracy, document a case, escalate the right way, and stay patient when the other side is counting on you to give up.
I started A Proxy Mate because I kept seeing the same thing: people with completely legitimate problems who just didn't have the time or energy to see them through. So they walked away. Left money on the table. Let it go.
I don't let it go. That's the whole service.
In person, I'm Louisville and the surrounding area. If the task can be handled remotely, I work across Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio.
"You could probably handle this yourself. You're a capable person. But you found this page, which means you don't have the time. That's enough. I'm that guy."
— Steve Hallam, A Proxy Mate
What I Handle
Erroneous charges, surprise fees, cancellations that won't stick. I document it, escalate it, and follow it until it's resolved.
Medical bills, claim denials, coverage confusion. I organize the paperwork and stay on them so you don't have to.
The job that's half done, the refund that never came, the contractor who stopped returning calls. I pick it back up.
When you've been transferred four times and gotten nowhere. I know how to get to the person who can actually fix it.
Unpaid invoices, collection follow-up, vendor disputes. For small businesses that don't have time to chase what they're owed.
Yard sales. Waiting for deliveries. Neighbor conversations. If it needs doing and you don't have time — describe it and let's talk.
How It Works
Tell me what's happening. No need to organize it — that's my job.
Every engagement has a beginning and an end. We agree on what success looks like before I start.
I document, communicate, escalate, and follow up. I'm standing in your shoes — acting on your behalf.
You'll know where things stand without having to ask. No black holes.
Defined completion. You get a summary of what happened and what was accomplished.
The Honest Part
I'm good at this. I'm patient. I'm emotionally intelligent and I don't quit easily. That's what you're hiring. But finding me didn't change the world — it's still full of people and organizations that won't yield to anyone, no matter how persistent or well-organized the approach. I'll tell you when we've hit that wall.
Where I Work
In-person engagements. I'll show up, sit in your driveway, make the call, handle it on the ground.
Remote engagements across the tri-state region. If it can be handled by phone, email, or documentation — distance doesn't matter.
If your problem lives online or over the phone, geography is irrelevant. Describe it and let's figure it out.
